My client Rita came to be with a look on her face that said something was very, very wrong. A loved one had passed away, and it was bad. Not only was the absence of this person in her life taking it's toll, but the loved one's estate was going to court with no guidance whatsoever. No will document, no trust, nothing at all to tell the loved ones what to do. The state decided who who was in charge, and Minnesota's default rules were running the show. This was not what ANYONE had wanted, especially not Rita.
We knew that peace of mind for Rita's family and friends was everything. What her loved one needed was a will document that would be VALID in Minnesota, even if it was a document that would just makes sure the right people were in charge. Rita's loved ones should have been able to make these decisions, NOT a judge.
Fortunately, we began this project to bring people just like Rita an affordable alternative.
